Piano lessons are offered to beginning, intermediate, and advanced students from age 4 to adult. Interviews are required before accepting students younger than 6. Jessica maintains a thriving piano studios in Stephens City, Virginia. Piano lessons are a great place for young children to begin their musical studies. Piano lessons are also a great way to introduce music to an adult beginner or to refresh an adult student who has taken a break from lessons. Please complete the New Student Form and bring it to your first lesson. Tuition rates can be found here.
Young students will learn how to read music and often play recognizable songs after their first lesson! Early musical studies on the piano will benefit students hoping to start additional lessons on another instrument or voice. Piano lessons teach the fundamentals of music which helps prepare students to join school, church, or community music ensembles. Several of Jessica’s middle and high school students perform with their school’s bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and choirs. Many of Jessica’s adult students perform at local nursing homes, churches and hospitals.
Lessons are tailored for each unique student and are designed to let them reach their maximum potential. Jessica structures lessons around the specific goals of each individual student. Lessons will include thorough instruction in piano technique, repertoire, musicianship, practice techniques, music theory, instrument maintenance, sight-reading, rhythm training, and ensemble work. Students participate in group lessons and ensembles so that they can perform with other students and learn to listen with a critical and musical ear. Students give two recitals a year and have the opportunity to participate in the National Federation of Music Club’s annual Festival. Students in her studio consistently earn a Superior or Excellent rating in the National Federation of Music Club’s Festival.
Piano students must own or have daily access to a piano or quality digital piano/keyboard. Digital pianos/keyboards should have weighted keys and a sustain pedal. Jessica can assist students with finding an appropriate instrument.
